Artist Statement

Over time memories and experiences change in our minds, leaving us to rely on documentation. Photographs and maps capture fixed moments. I organize and cement parallels by finding links between people and places, as well as memory and experience, which have been lost in the documentation of materials and objects. Exploring the functionality of simple or mundane materials such as: wood, paper, photographs, maps, glue, and masking tape, I can connect with the implied meaning each holds. Creating grids of information, emphasizing process through repetition, my activities reflect and examine the passage of time. I expose the emptiness of representations through my process of obscuring and revealing, to visually track how experiences become altered or lost as memories.
