Things Come in Threes…

So far this journaling has been a bust. But I’m writing no. Quick catch up… Over New Years we tested positive for Covid. Quarantined for 10 days Brenden was required to test negative before returning to work. Luckily I was able to work from home.

Caitlin broke her ankle in 3 places slipped on black ice in town, two surgeries, 1 plate and 18 screws. Her return to school was delayed finally got a boot on and will head back this weekend. A tough semester ahead.

Dad approached the family with a possible business opportunity. A ski resort and lodge… then Brenden added to the search and we reached out to snowmobile lodge too. These properties are located in Wyoming and would become a family business, but all of us need to agree in it. So the conversations and exploration has begun. We shall see if anything come of either. If not, it wasn’t meant to be and it was a good learning opportunity.

Balto had a seizure, that was scary as hell. Him and Brenden went for a skin and he came back had some water and darted across the room then circled and one side of his body dropped and collapsed to the floor, heart rate elevated and eyes flickered. Immediately called the vet, the didn’t recommend taking him in that day, but told us to keep a close eye on him. We had an appointment the other day, got some seizure medicine if it happens again at least we are prepared, but really hope it was a fluke accident. May have been dehydration and over exertion. If he has another seizure, we will take him in for bloodwork to test for heart, liver or epilepsy. Hope he is okay!

Isn’t there a saying that things come in threes?…

Joyce broke her femur skiing in WA! They had returned from their Utah trip to ski with friends and some freak accident she fell and hard. Ken drove following the ambulance 40min to hospital. Hospital was filled because of Covid omicron spread. Her surgery was rescheduled twice. Finally had surgery, started PT in the hospital to keep blood circulating and work on mobility. She’s been in the hospital for a week, got news her blood clot was worse. We hope swelling goes down so she can finally go home and start rehab. What a long journey ahead, but we are thankful she’s okay and surgery went well. One day at a time.

Just got news she made it home this afternoon and finally resting. Put together a little care package and sent that off!

Brenden, Balto and I escaped to Moab for the weekend. Ultimate Direction’s social/athlete manager reached out about possible content creation collaborations. We were sent some gear as a trial and going to get a desert shoot, and hopefully a winter snowy shoot back home. This would be a great opportunity, hope it works out!

We are staying at the Radcliffe, love this hotel, modern and clean with the Gear Heads shop downstairs and across from city market. Balto is a little confused by hotel living, but better then camping when it’s 20 degrees out. We are cuddling in the bed now while Brenden is grabbing snacks for tomorrow and something sweet for tonight.

Despite all the craziness as of lately, counting our blessings and taking one day at a time. Till next time…

Acclimate Studios is a modern creative collective specializing in branding, graphic design, and photography. The team consists of Kelsey Coon, Brenden Sandness, and our sidekick Balto. We are an adventurous crew with the same desire to be in the mountains. Transplants from opposite ends of the country, back in 2017 we met in Aspen, Colorado. “Acclimate Studios” came about from the many passions we have developed together. We are always trying new things: learning, growing, adapting to acclimate as a team in our mountain community.
